We had a very busy weekend preparing for our rehearsed open reading of In the Grove of Forgetting by Bob Ford.
Artistic Director of Theatre2.org, Bob Ford and Associate Artistic director, Amy Herzberg, arrived earlier last week in Budapest for additional research on Bob’s script. Towards the end of the week, the draft was rewritten a couple of times until ready for our cast!
Balázs, Géza and Sasha started the first reading with Amy and Bob at 10:00 Saturday morning. A stumble through to say the least, but by the end of our workshop, Sunday evening at five, they were ready to deliver a rehearsed reading of note!
And a note it was! Not only did Amy deliver a heartfelt portrayal of the main character Ilona Raab, but just like her character, delivered a wonderful rendition of Bartok and Brahms on the piano. An extra treat for our audience. And might we add, Géza and Balázs made their debut as pianists too!
We would like to thank Bob and Amy for sharing this beautiful story of love and hope amid the cruelest of times with us and our dear patrons.
We are looking forward reading the opening reviews when In the Grove premiers next year summer at their very own theatre in Fayetteville Arkansas.
A special thank you to our hosting venue, Brody House, for letting us take over their beautiful space once again.
We leave you with a collection of photos, compliments of BET community member, Andrea Horvath.
Until next time. Toi Toi Toi!
